There is no doubt that Vietnam is an economy on the move. It has seen steady growth this century, and indeed, tourist numbers have been growing steadily in recent years so that last year, over 10 million visitors travelled to Vietnam. While tourists often know weeks in advance that they are travelling for a Vietnam holiday, businessmen can find out at the last minute that they need to go there. If they need an urgent visa to Vietnam that does not really pose a problem because there are good Vietnam visa providers who will make all the arrangements, usually needing just a single working day after the applicant completes the application form and provides the necessary payment.

There is one thing that every traveller should check; that their passport has at least six months’ validity before they make an application. The approval comes in the form of an Approval Letter from the Immigration Department where the applicant receives a copy at the same time as the Immigration Section at the intended airport of entry. The visa on arrival procedure is only available for visitors flying into the three main international airports, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Any other entry involves the businessman approaching an embassy or consulate for the visa. Tourists who do this may have to surrender their passport for up to 10 working days though businessmen may find the process is quicker though it is still not as good as using a company with a good reputation to do the whole thing for them.

If a businessman is purely on an exploratory trip then he or she may simply want a visa that allows a single visit within defined dates.

The Approval Letter defines the permitted date of entry and does not allow for an earlier date. The application form will have asked for details of the applicant and the proposed date of entry and exit. When someone expects to start or continue business in Vietnam, the best visa to get is multiple entry and it can be valid for up to a year with as many visits as are required.
