Unique things to do in Sapa

6 hours away from Hanoi, Sapa- the northwestern destination of Vietnam is the most beautiful place to visit in Summer when the rice terraced fields are amazing. In Autumn, Sapa looks like a sleepy girl, very romantic and charming.

Tourists to Sapa can also enjoy cool weather, meet different ethnic groups, see colorful markets, etc. Trekking tour in Sapa is a must and tourists should find a good tour operator in Hanoi or Sapa to organise the best itinerary.

Sapa is now a very busy and crowded town especially at weekend. Vietnamese tourists make noise, many new hotels are being built. Staying in Sapa town is not a good option for western tourists. It is time to do something unique. Below are some suggestions:

1. Experience homestay: There are around 10 ethnic villages in Sapa like Ta Phin, Cat Cat, Lao Chai, Ta Van, Giang Ta Chai, Sep Trung Ho, Ban Ho, Thanh Kim offering homestay, which is definitely the  unique way to learn more about the life and culture of the local people. Homestay is not too bad, it is basic, but clean and you are warmly welcomed. Homestay is cheap compared to hotel in Sapa and when you bring income to the family, you help them a lot.

During your time at homestay, you can learn how to work on the rice terraced fields, cook some traditional dishes and try home-made rice wine.

2. Topas ecolodge: 25km from Sapa, Topas can be the world's most wonderful mountain resort where you can enjoy nature, peaceful atmosphere and picturesque scenery. Sapa town is too touristy now, for comfortable and relaxing time, book your stay at Topas ecolodge.

3. Hire a motorbike:  There are so many beautiful places to visit in Sapa in such a short time, my advice is to hire a motorbike, get a map and explore Sapa villages by yourself. This is a memorable experience.

4. Cable car to Fansipan: Fansipan is the highest peak of Vietnam at 3143m above the sea level. It used to be a challenge to climb up, but it is now easy with the cable car which take you around 30 minutes. If you are lucky with the weather, go for it. Amazing view on top!
