Vietnam visa guide for US passport holders

Last year, visitors from the US to Vietnam ranked 4th on the list of the top 10 International Visitors in Vietnam with 552,644 visitors. Since Vietnam normalised relations with the US, more and more Americans are coming for work and travel, even live in Vietnam. Vietnamese people welcome Americans and Americans have no fear like before because of the Vietnam war.

In the near future, if there are direct flights from the US to Vietnam and there is no visa application. Vietnam will attract more tourists from the US. For now, to enter Vietnam, US passport holders need to obtain a visa in advance at the Embassy of Vietnam in US, or get it on arrival at one of the international airports in Hanoi, Danang or Ho Chi Minh city.

Requirements to obtain Vietnam visa at the Embassy of Vietnam in US:

•   Your passport must be valid at least ONE MONTH prior to your proposed date of exit from Vietnam.
•   Your photo must not be taken more than a year.
•   All visa information must be checked once you receive. Passport number and visa date must be correct. The error needs to be amended before your departure date. No refund for the applicable fees or compensation if your visa to Vietnam is refused for some reasons.
•   Your Vietnam visa can be obtained by post, email, but it is best if you can come to the embassy during working hour.

Required documents:

•  Fill out the visa form provided by the embassy.
•  Valid passport (Scanned copy of the photo page of valid passport)
•  Applicable fees with Proof of fee payment by bank transfer

Note: The Embassy of Vietnam in US can be the first choice for Americans, but it seems complicated and takes your time to read all requirements, submit the visa form, pay the fees. Again, there is no refund or compensation if your visa to Vietnam is failed to obtain for some reasons.
