New cave in Bac Can could become The North’s Son Doong of Vietnam

This beautiful cave was accidentally discovered in Vang village, Hoang Tri commune, Ba Be district, Bac Can province by Nguyen Tuan Linh, Director of "Mr Linh's Adventures" in his survey to build a new trekking road for foreign tourists.

Shortly after discovering of the cave, Mr. Linh had written a report to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism  of  Bac Kan province and local authorities to conduct the real survey to assess the status of the cave and then have plans to develop the tourism.

Recently, the survey team was established including Mr. Nguyen Van Ha, deputy director of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and representatives from the provision of the Department and Ba Be National Park; Ba Be district leaders and reporter to conduct a preliminary survey of the cave, located in the Tham Phay mountains, Vang village, Hoang Tri commune, Ba Be district.

It’s very difficult to approach the cave because there is only a unique way opened by local people while the gate of the cave is located on halfway up the mountain, very difficult to discover. From the gate, the cave goes down about 20m deep and there are underground streams.

The deeper the team goes, the colder the weather is and simultaneously the more bizarre the shapes of stalactites are. The team decided to get out of the cave after discovering its 3 km long to ensure the safe. According to estimates, the length of the cave is about 5- 7 km.

Bac Kan province will invite experts to evaluate the geology, geomorphology, as well as conducting further surveys to set up tours to the cave in the shortest time.
