How to reach Ho Chi Minh?
Tan Son Nhat is the international airport of Ho Chi Minh City, which serves as both domestic and international airport and is also Vietnam’s busiest airport, situated about 8 kilometers from the heart of the city. It has two terminals at this airport; the new one started functioning in 2007 whereas the old one is 200 meters away from the new terminal.

When you take a Vietnam private tour, there is no way you can bypass visiting the Pham Ngu Lao street, which is in the center of the city. The best and cheapest way to reach the central city is by boarding the airport bus service. The bus service is frequently available and leaves every 15 minutes. However, the bus is available only till 6:00 pm, and if you miss the last bus, you can still walk 20 minutes to Cong Hoa street and take bus No 4 which goes to Ben Thanh.

As already mentioned above, taxi scams are high in the country, and you need to be careful while opting for a private tour. However, the taxi rates are reasonable in case you take a taxi from a reputable company and turn on the meter while traveling. Two of the most reliable taxi companies in the city are Vinasun and Mai Linh. Prepaid taxis are the best way to move around. Also be aware of dubious taxi companies whose name resembles famous taxi company’s names.  So, to avoid meeting embarrassing situations, it would be better to book your Vietnam private tour arrangements through reputed tour operators.

Another option for travel is by renting a car with chauffeurs who speak English. The cost for the service is between12,000 to 13,000 dong per kilometer. Hiring a taxi is pretty easy, and you can find many taxis in the city. Rental cars are more expensive than taxis.

For traveling to the city, you can also opt for bicycles. You can contact Vietnam travel agency like Vivutravel for hiring these bicycles. If you want something fast, go for motorbikes. They are readily available, cheap and quite safe. Make sure that the company provides you with a helmet as it is mandatory to wear one.
