However, the visa on arrival will only work for travelers who are flying to Vietnam via Da Nang, Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh airport. Visa fee
For obtaining the visa approval letter via any travel operator, you need to pay some amount of fee along with the stamping fee paid at the airport on arrival. The amount of fee varies as given below:

For single entry visa:
Duration: 1 month - $17 for 1-3 pax, $15 for 4-6 pax, $13 for 7-9 pax and $10 for 10 pax and up

Duration: 3 months - $25 for 1-3 pax, $23 for 4-6 pax, $21 for 7-9 pax and $19 for 10 pax and up
For multiple entry visa:

Duration: 1 month -$ 20 for 1-3 pax, $18 for 4-6 pax, $16 for 7-9 pax and $14 for 10 pax and up

Duration: 3 months - $65 for 1-3 pax, $63 for 4-6 pax, $61 for 7-9 pax and $69 for 10 pax and up

Visa updates
- Vietnam visa exemption is granted to citizens of Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Thailand and Laos for a tour of 30 days at the maximum, citizens of Philippines for a maximum of 21 days, citizens of France for 90 days, citizens of Sweden, Denmark, South Korea, Japan, Finland and Russia for 15 days, citizens of Chile for 90 days.

- For everyone traveling to Phu Quoc Island by entering through an international border,the gate will also be granted visa exemption if staying there for less than 15 days. To travel from Phu Quoc Island to other places or to stay on the island for more than 15 days, you can contact the immigration department to issue visa on the spot.

- Foreigner travelers will be granted a visa at the international borders in the scenarios like Funerals of relatives, to rescue victims of natural disasters, visit under programs organized by Vietnam tour enterprises, or any other urgent cases.

- No visa approval letter will be issued during popular public holidays like the Tet holiday and on New Year’s Day.

Visa renewal procedures
If you want to renew your Vietnam visa, the extension will be stamping on your passport with the updated duration. However, you cannot choose for visa renewal for 3 months. The renewal option is open to those who enter Vietnam with visa exemption as well.

The procedures to get a visa to Vietnam is quite simple.You can choose to obtain Vietnam e-visa from Vietnam immigration directly without the need of an approval letter. You just need to fill the online form, and within 3 days you will be notified whether the visa is approved. If the application is approved, you will receive a digital code that let you take the print out of your Vietnam e-visa. However, this process has a lot of restrictions and is available to travelers from 40 countries approved by the Vietnamese government.
