Situated about 34 km from the Ninh Binh center is the Phat Diem Cathedral. It was built in the year 1898 and was popularly known as the 'Vatican of Vietnam.' Hue was the capital of Vietnam for around 150 years from 1802 to 1945 and is a city of historical importance.
